In plain language

BeDeeper is a private sanctuary. In Version 1.0 there is no public feed, no shared timeline, no leaderboard, and no shared inbox. Your writing is yours. These Guidelines describe the spirit of BeDeeper as a place and the small set of expectations that apply now — and prepare the ground for any member-facing surface that BeDeeper may open in the future.

They read with:

  • Prohibited uses of BeDeeper and The Lantern: Acceptable Use
  • Content ownership and BeDeeper's licence: Content Ownership
  • What happens if a member's conduct requires action: Account Termination

1. The spirit of BeDeeper

BeDeeper is a living sanctuary — a place of reflection, orientation, and quiet company. Its values are set out in the governing document 01_Foundation: sanctuary over suite, reflection before action, beauty before efficiency, meaning before metrics, one invitation at a time, absence is welcome.

The Guidelines below try to honor those values.

2. What is private today

At Version 1.0, everything you write inside BeDeeper is private to you:

  • Your Living Journal is yours.
  • Your Passage reflections are yours.
  • Your Lantern conversations are yours.
  • Your Compass — maps, life-compass snapshots, north-star declarations, Dream Journal, vision board — is yours.
  • Your Artifacts, and your Wisdom Shelf favorites, are yours.

BeDeeper's staff may access member writing only in the limited circumstances described in Privacy Policy (moderation of a specific report, abuse response, diagnostics of a specific incident, legal obligations). No other member sees your writing.

3. Expectations of a member

Even inside a private sanctuary, some expectations apply to what you do at BeDeeper.

  • Honesty with yourself, courtesy with everyone else. You do not need to be honest with anyone but yourself; BeDeeper is not a performance. When you interact with BeDeeper staff — for example over support — please be courteous.
  • Respect for the sanctuary. BeDeeper is a place. Please treat it as one. Do not try to break, scrape, exploit, resell, or reverse-engineer it; the full list of prohibited uses is in Acceptable Use.
  • Respect for The Lantern. The Lantern is a companion for reflection. You may disagree with it, ignore it, argue with it, or ask it something serious. Please do not try to prompt it to do things prohibited under Acceptable Use.
  • No impersonation. Please do not create an account that pretends to be another real person, or hold yourself out as a professional (therapist, physician, coach) that you are not.
  • Illegal content. Do not upload or write material whose mere existence on BeDeeper would violate applicable law, including material described in Acceptable Use.

4. Future member-facing surfaces

BeDeeper may open member-facing surfaces in the future (for example, a shared Wisdom Shelf where members choose to share Artifacts, or opt-in Sanctuary elements). Any such surface will have its own opt-in and its own additional standards. These Guidelines set the shared floor for any future member-facing surface:

  • Kindness. Treat other members' writing as guests, not raw material. What another member has kept and chosen to share is precious.
  • No harassment. No harassing, threatening, targeting, or shaming another member. BeDeeper is a sanctuary for everyone.
  • No commercial use. No advertising, recruiting for outside services, promoting products, or turning BeDeeper into a channel to somewhere else.
  • No impersonation across members. Do not pretend to be another member or misrepresent your identity in a member-facing surface.
  • Consent. Do not share, screenshot, or copy another member's content off BeDeeper without their consent.

Where a specific member-facing surface has additional standards, they will be shown at the entrance to that surface and cross-referenced here.

5. Reporting

If you see a problem — for example, an interaction with BeDeeper staff that felt wrong, or a suspected security or abuse issue — please write to support@bedeeper.com. If it is a security issue, follow the responsible-disclosure process in Security & Data Protection.

6. Moderation authority

BeDeeper reserves the right to review, restrict, remove, or preserve content and to suspend or end access, as described more fully in User-Generated Content and Account Termination. Moderation choices are made with restraint — the sanctuary matters more than any single action.

7. Changes

Substantive changes to these Guidelines follow the notification convention in Terms of Service and the effective-date convention in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation.
