Terms of Service
The primary agreement between BeDeeper and its members.
Defined terms carry the meanings given in BeDeeper's shared legal definitions unless expressly redefined here.
In plain language
These Terms are the agreement between you and BeDeeper. By opening an account or using the sanctuary, you accept them. If you do not, please do not use BeDeeper. The Terms are written to be readable; where lawyers need precision, the precision is here too.

1. Who these Terms are between
These Terms are between you (the "member," "you") and BeDeeper (the "provider," "we," "us"). Company details appear at the top of this page. When you open a BeDeeper account, sign in, or otherwise use the sanctuary, you agree to these Terms and to the documents cross-referenced above.
2. Eligibility
BeDeeper is offered to adults. Age minimums, the treatment of accounts opened by minors in violation of them, and how a parent or guardian may reach us are all set out in Children's Privacy. By using BeDeeper you confirm that you meet those minimums and that you have the legal capacity to enter these Terms in the jurisdiction where you reside.
3. Your account
You create an account with an email and password, or by signing in through Google or Apple. The full set of sign-in methods and how we look after them is described in Security & Data Protection. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for what happens under your account.
Please tell us at the address in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
4. Membership and billing
Membership tiers, the trial, Oil refills, price, renewal, and Founding membership are governed by Billing Policy. Additional plans may become available in the future.

5. License to use BeDeeper
For as long as you are in good standing under these Terms, BeDeeper grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the sanctuary for its intended purpose: private reflection, orientation, and dialogue with The Lantern. You may not sublicense, resell, or share your account. You may not use BeDeeper on behalf of a business, team, or family group; Version 1.0 serves one person, one sanctuary.
6. Acceptable use
Some uses of BeDeeper are prohibited because they harm other members, harm BeDeeper, or harm the sanctuary itself. Acceptable Use sets out the prohibitions in full. Conduct expectations within the sanctuary are described in Community Guidelines. Violation may lead to moderation, suspension, or termination as described in Account Termination.
7. Your writing and our license from you
You keep ownership of what you write in BeDeeper — reflections, Living Journal entries, Lantern conversations, Compass content, Dream Journal, Artifacts, uploads, and other original material you create. To operate the sanctuary you have asked for, you grant BeDeeper only the limited license described in Content Ownership.
BeDeeper does not sell member writing, does not send member writing to any third party for the purpose of training AI models, and does not authorize its subprocessors to use member writing to train AI models. 8. The Lantern and reflective content
The Lantern is a companion for reflection powered by artificial intelligence. It is not a therapist, counselor, physician, lawyer, financial advisor, or emergency service. The legal disclaimer is AI Disclaimer. The trust-oriented account of how The Lantern actually works — what it uses, what leaves the app, what it will never do — is AI Transparency. The non-clinical scope of BeDeeper and crisis resources are described in Wellness Disclaimer.
9. BeDeeper's intellectual property
The BeDeeper name, the product's design, the six-room Passage structure, the primary destinations (Sanctuary, Passages, Meraki, Journey, Telescope, Compass), related surfaces such as Living Journal, Artifacts, and The Deep, the vocabulary listed in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation, and everything BeDeeper writes, illustrates, or codes remain BeDeeper's intellectual property, subject to the rights we hold in third-party components. Nothing in these Terms transfers our marks or copyrighted materials to you. You may not scrape, reverse engineer, or otherwise reuse BeDeeper's content or code outside the permitted use of the sanctuary; see Acceptable Use.
10. Privacy, cookies, and security
How we look after your data — what is collected, why, for how long, and the choices you have — is described in Privacy Policy. Cookies actually set by BeDeeper are listed in Cookie Policy. Our security posture and how to report a suspected vulnerability are described in Security & Data Protection.
11. Third-party services
BeDeeper relies on the subprocessors listed in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation to deliver the sanctuary. Payments happen through Stripe, hosting and email through Vercel and Resend, authentication and storage through Supabase, and Lantern dialogue through OpenAI. When you use those third-party services through BeDeeper you also become subject to their own terms. We choose subprocessors with care, but we do not control them.
12. Changes to BeDeeper
BeDeeper evolves. We may add, change, or retire features, room layouts, Passages, Artifacts, or elements of the Lantern's behavior at any time. We will not make substantive changes to your rights under these Terms, Privacy Policy, Content Ownership, or Billing Policy without giving you reasonable notice — see clause 22 (Changes to these Terms).
13. Suspension and termination
You may end your membership and delete your account at any time; the mechanics are in Account Termination. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, Acceptable Use, or Community Guidelines, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe continued access would harm the sanctuary or its members. Effects on data on termination — including what is deleted, what remains temporarily in backups, and what we are required to retain — are described in Account Termination.
14. Disclaimers
BeDeeper is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, BeDeeper disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the sanctuary will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly available. BeDeeper does not offer clinical, medical, therapeutic, legal, or financial advice; see AI Disclaimer and Wellness Disclaimer.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BeDeeper and its officers, employees, and subprocessors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of BeDeeper. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BeDeeper's total aggregate liability for any claim under or related to these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid BeDeeper in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred United States dollars (US$100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. In those jurisdictions the exclusions and limitations apply only to the extent permitted.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify BeDeeper against reasonable third-party claims arising from your material breach of these Terms, Acceptable Use, Community Guidelines, or applicable law. BeDeeper will notify you promptly of any claim covered by this section and will let you participate in the defense and settlement at your expense.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction stated in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Where the law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be waived by contract, those rights are not affected by this clause.
18. Disputes
Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at legal@bedeeper.com. Most concerns can be resolved this way, quickly and without cost to either side. We take this step seriously and expect that we will honor it too.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, and unless a mandatory law of your country of residence directs otherwise, the parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the jurisdiction stated in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation. Either party may seek equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
Small-claims option. You may bring a qualifying claim in a small-claims court in your country of residence instead of the venue above.
Local rights. Where the law of your country of residence gives you rights or remedies that cannot be waived by contract, those rights and remedies are not affected by this clause.
19. Force majeure
BeDeeper is not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural events, network or infrastructure outages, third-party provider failures, government actions, or civil disturbance.
20. Assignment
You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. BeDeeper may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of substantially all of its assets, provided your rights under these Terms and the documents cross-referenced in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation — including the ownership and no-training commitments in Content Ownership — are honored by the successor.
21. Notices
Notices we give you may be delivered by email to the address on your account, by in-sanctuary message, or by posting to a BeDeeper legal page. Notices you give us should be sent to the address in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation.
22. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Editorial changes take effect on posting. Substantive changes — changes to your rights, obligations, refund posture, the ownership and no-training commitments in Content Ownership, or the list of subprocessors in BeDeeper's Legal Foundation — take effect no less than thirty (30) days after we notify you by email and in-sanctuary. If you do not accept a substantive change, you may end your membership before it takes effect using the mechanics in Account Termination and Refund & Cancellation.

23. Entire agreement; severability; no waiver
These Terms, together with the documents they cross-reference, are the entire agreement between you and BeDeeper about the sanctuary. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A delay or failure to enforce any right under these Terms is not a waiver of that right.
